Another delayed appearance... Three years after its preview in the Golden Rose contest, Cross The Line is now available in paperback and Kindle formats!

This story is set in the southern U.S. in 1960.

Joe's been working his way across the United States. He's already been beaten and robbed. He crosses paths with an ex-con and his crooked pals, but when he meets a blonde with a killer figure, a nickel-plated revolver and a surly kid, things really go wrong!

More information and a brief excerpt on my Historical page.

Follow the links to the book's Amazon pages for longer excerpts.

Addie’s built a sensible -- if boring -- life working as an insurance underwriter. She’s on track to marry Patrick, until an SUV runs a stop sign, right into her tiny Fiat. But she's about to get a second chance at life – and at love.

Yes, romance fans, after two and a half years of expansion and refinement, Addie Gets An Afterlife is now available in paperback and Kindle formats on Amazon!

More information and a brief excerpt on my Paranormal page.

(Interestingly, the paperback preview seems to show about 8 pages, the Kindle preview seems to show about 42 pages!)

Nearly 3 years?

It's the last day of January of 2020. I'm astonished to find that -- nearly 3 years ago -- my mild paranormal romance novel was planned for a May, 2017 release!

It's title is Addie Gets An Afterlife. It's set in present-day Portland, Oregon, and I've just submitted it to Amazon for publishing. Most likely it will appear in the first few days of February 2020.

The intervening months and years have not been unproductive, though. (I know, double negative.) Addie Gets An Afterlife was a finalist in the 2018 Golden Rose writing contest. It's also grown from a novella-length story to a 453-page, three-part, inch-thick novel. It's a pretty wild ride for Addie ... I hope you like it too!

The cover is complete. I've just now posted it on my Paranormal page, and when it's available I'll post a "buy" link.

Sidney vs. Sydney

12/14/2018

Lately I've noticed more female movie characters named Sydney. Years ago, I associated the name Sidney with boys or men. Was I in error?

I asked The Google, and found two sites which give pretty much the same answer.

Sidney on babynameshub.com shows the name "Sidney" peaking around the year 1918 at about 1879 boys, then fading. "Sidney" for girls really took off in 1991. But wait! What about “Sydney” with a y?

Sydney on babynameshub.com shows “Sydney” taking off in 1984 and peaking in the year 2000 with over 10,000 girls named Sydney!

The site nameplayground.com has combined the boy and girl graphs for Sidney and Sydney. The trends are all the more startling when you read the fine print and realize that the vertical axes are different; the “girl” rates are actually 3 to 24 times higher than they seem.

The nameplayground.com pages give some other (mildly) interesting statistics: The average age of (male) Sidneys is 76.3 years old, the average age of (female) Sydneys is 20.9 years.

So yes, Sidney used to be a boy’s name, but Sydney became a predominantly girl’s name just in time for recently-released movies.
